Enough of this "rushing out" bullshit!
Enough of this bullshit! I didn’t think it was a bad thing for BMG to ask fans what kinds of thing they’d like to see on Britney’s next album. Democracy, right? If Beyonce asked her stans for an opinion, they’d be delighted and proud to have been asked. But Britney’s fans......? Let’s just say a lot of them have been reacting with their usual mixture of juvenile gracelessness and sneery cynicism. What Makes Britney Britney?

Britney’s image problems: That seems to be the catch phrase on every fan’s lips these days. It’s brought up each time we see a new set of candids; it’s bemoaned on every website and fan forum; it’s discussed and argued and “fixed” a million times over. And everyone has come to the same conclusion: Britney’s image is either irrevocably wrecked or will be pretty soon. I can see why people have come to this conclusion. So why do I feel so calm and undisturbed by this? Maybe it’s because I’m not in the habit of looking back and playing “what if??” It’s a cruel game and one I’ve learned (from personal experience) to carefully avoid!! Maybe it’s that I’m in a dulled state of denial, where I refuse to believe this is all there is, and this is how it will end? But mostly I think it’s because I knew this would happen. Looking at Britney at 17...young, full of dreams, cavorting down that hallway in the “Baby, One More Time” video…I somehow knew her road would not be easy, I knew she would face drama and backlash and be hurt and scarred in the process. This is not the benefit of hindsight. I can’t explain how I knew these things would happen, but I did. And though I enjoyed seeing her succeed in the early years, I always knew that the moment would come when I would be sitting here writing about her “failure”.

In Depth: Mona Lisa
The In-Depth Series
Written by Karen

For a little while, Britney got into the habit of giving her fans a little New Year surprise. Some were less pleasurable than others - her marriage to Jason Alexander springs to mind. But the “Mona Lisa” incident was an intriguing one. It appears from an account given by radio station staff that Britney phoned KISS FM on New Year’s Eve, 2004 suggesting that she come to the station straight away to play her new song. The station at first suspected a student hoax, but one of the DJs happened to have met Britney, and knew her voice, so she was given the go-ahead.

20/20 Hindsight: B In The Mix
20/20 Hindsight / Looking Back
Written by Jason

Most remix albums tend to be relative throwaways in the grand tale of an artist/producer's career. They usually fill a contractual album obligation with a label, and they jolt club interest in past material from an artist's catalog. They're little more than stopgap pieces of product. B In The Mix's intentions as a release were no different, but by being attached to Britney Spears, the release of B In The Mix brought not only a dozen or so exhilarating takes on Britney classics (both new and old), it also brought forth one of the first glimpses of a Britney release without the pomp and pizazz every Britney release to date has has been accompanied by.

Britney - The Pain of Finding Her Way
What Makes Britney Britney?
Written by Karen
June 4, 2007
It seems that the “virtual world of the Virtual Britney Spears” has finally proved too much for her to take. It must be hell to know that your life is lived in public, so what’s being said in public is something you can’t ignore. But every tiny, seemingly insignificant action is scrutinised, analysed, and blown out of all proportion, then someone puts a negative spin on it and tries to make some bad news out of it. What’s worse, in the absence of hard news the media will simply invent something. It must be heartbreaking and incredibly soul-destroying to see stories printed about you that are both malicious and completely fictitious.
